We are seeking a Project Engineer to join our Power Grids Market within our Net Zero Energy Business. This position would be based in Glasgow or Birmingham, with a flexible mixture of home-working and office/site collaboration time expected.
The UK Energy market is undergoing unprecedented change as the country strives towards a net zero carbon target. The sector must contend with high penetration of modern generation, transmission and distribution technologies, energy storage and prepare for the increased demand associated with the electrification of transport and heat as the country progresses along the decarbonisation pathway. As part of the Net Zero agenda, networks have a crucial role in delivering the renewable energy which is required to be connected.
Your Purpose:
You will be working within our Power Grids Market, predominantly on substation projects for our key clients. Examples of the types of work you may be involved in include:
* Providing input to and supporting Project Managers to coordinate and progress project engineering deliverables.
* Coordinating and gathering project engineering input from our subject matter experts and individual discipline engineering teams.
* Integration/coordination of engineering activities across multi-discipline design projects.
* Management of technical requirements from concept to detail design and delivery, including application of strong change control and risk management.
What you can bring:
* Experience in engineering projects, delivering to time, cost, quality and safety, demonstrating your application of project engineering skills across projects with various technical challenges.
* Fantastic communication skills and the ability to integrate quickly into diverse teams.
* Self-motivated with a strong delivery culture and the ability to get the best out of team members.
* Organizational skills with adaptability and a ‘can-do’ approach.
* A degree or HNC/HND in a related engineering-based discipline (preference for electrical bias).
* Experience in project engineering, planning, engineering design and working with design teams.
* Management of multiple stakeholders with a strong quality, safety, security and environmental focus.
* Knowledge of CDM regulations and identifying project risks.
* Right to work in the UK and experience in the transmission and distribution sector.
* Commercial awareness.

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary, it will be discussed with you at interview. The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require candidates to provide proof of residency in the UK of 5 years or longer.
