Our client is a well-known and progressive insurance brokering group based in Jersey.
Role & Responsibilities
They seek, during a period of change, an Interim Head of Claims to continue the delivery of a change programme of continued excellence and efficient customer services.
It involves building the capabilities of the claims team; and driving Key Performance Indicators and supplier requirements are within agreed quality and compliance standards to ensure excellent service levels through effective people management, practices, and ways of working.
We are looking at the “interim” option but we are also looking at “Interim to Perm” and “Perm” options.
Specifics:
1. Lead, manage and direct the claims service delivery to provide a first-class customer experience across the entire claims function in Jersey and Guernsey.
2. Design and embed operational best practice and suitable KPI’s to monitor service performance whilst fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
3. Lead and facilitate the implementation of people management practices, including performance management, talent and succession planning and engagement that will ensure effective resourcing, people development, attitudes and behaviours.
4. Lead, manage, recruit and develop direct reports, driving a high-performance customer-centric culture and setting clear expectations, enabling the team to realise their potential, and maximise their contributions to the Claims Team’s objectives.
5. Identify training and development needs of direct reports and other claims service staff, working with the technical claims team to source suitable training materials and resources.
6. Provide oversight of the supply chain management.
7. Analyse, interpret, report and act on performance and other management information to ensure that trends, risks, data quality, issues and opportunities are highlighted and managed.
8. Coach, inspire and develop technical excellence and quality in the team.
9. Drive the long-term claims strategy.
10. Handle and resolve complaints effectively, using the complaints procedure.
The Desired Candidate
1. Dip CII and/or a relevant leadership qualification is desirable e.g. ILM, CMI.
2. A solid understanding of general insurance (specific claims leadership experience would be an advantage).
3. Proven leadership/management skills.
4. Excellent interpersonal skills and a professional, approachable manner.
