Description The Service & Team: The Senior Projects Officer (Airport Client) will be a key member of a small team that supports the development and delivery of a diverse range of projects within the Economy & Skills Service and which deliver against the aims and objectives of the Cornwall Good Growth Plan, Cornwall Local Plan and the Council’s Place Shaping and Regeneration policies. You will be working alongside colleagues that are involved in projects that range from multi-million pound town centre regeneration projects to supporting the development of Cornwall’s distinctive sectors such as Floating Offshore Wind, Creative and Digital, Space and Data and Critical Minerals. Specifically, the role holder will act as the Economy & Skills ‘client’ representative for Cornwall Airport Newquay (CAN) and the wider Cornwall Council owned Airport/Enterprise Zone (EZ) estate. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the future of the airport, which is a vital part of Cornwall’s transport and economic infrastructure, providing regional and international connectivity and generating more than £97m of economic benefits to Cornwall’s economy. The Role: Responsibilities of the role holder will include: Day to day coordination of a range of planning, financial, operational and risk management activities to ensure the performance of one of Cornwall’s most important strategic assets is optimised in line with agreed commercial and economic growth targets. Working with key personnel within CAN and across Cornwall Council service areas on aspects of capital project/programme delivery, preparation of business cases and securing funding for a range of aviation/aerospace transport and real estate interventions. Providing ‘client-side’ input into the preparation, delivery and performance management of the annual business plans for Cornwall Airport Newquay Ltd. Procurement and contract management of a Public Service Obligation (PSO) between CAN and London. Strategic lead for delivery of the c.£2m Enterprise Zone Growth Fund. This will include liaising with potential project applicants from across the public and private sectors on the Airport Estate, supporting the appraisal of applications, development and delivery of funding contracts and reporting activities. Working Pattern: This is a full-time, 37 hours per week role that has flexible working options available. The successful candidate will be expected to attend office days to work collaboratively with the wider team each month. What you’ll need to succeed: The successful applicant will bring a range of skills, knowledge and experience to the role, including: An understanding of aviation / airport operations, property, infrastructure and planning policies. Experience of successful delivery of property and infrastructure projects and schemes. Experience in commissioning and overseeing capital and revenue projects. Knowledge of procurement processes, contracts and risk management on projects. A track record of successfully working with partners and external bodies to achieve project specific aims and objectives.
