The Supply Chain team forms a key part of Business Services, reporting through the Head of Supply Chain.
Supply Chain Programme Managers support one or more of the four Roke Business units: Defence, National Security, Intelligence and Corporate and People Services.
Job Purpose & Key Responsibilities
The Head of Supply Chain National Security is the key business partner for their aligned business unit(s), and is responsible for managing key suppliers, subcontractors and ecosystem partners against Roke's product and service delivery portfolio, as well as providing subject matter expert support on behalf of the Supply Chain function for Business winning activities.
The principles of this role are to support the Roke Supply Chain Strategy and Programmes, to develop further the capability and delivery of Supplier Contract and Relationship Management Supplier Collaboration.
This will be underpinned by strong engagement skills around Small Medium Enterprise's (SME), academia and non-traditional Suppliers, all of whom are critical to delivery of Roke's strategy. This role leads a small team in support of the above.
Responsibilities include:
Leading a team to deliver a best-in-class procurement, supply chain management and collaboration capability
Strategically managing the assigned portfolio, programme and categories of suppliers
Actively supporting the supply chain transformation and the effective enhancement of its brand by ensuring a professional, best practice approach is adopted at all times
Developing, influencing and leading strong stakeholder relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Working cohesively with the project managers, client managers and engineers to ensure delivery and supportability of existing products and services, and any new business opportunities
Providing bid support as Supply Chain SME for sub-contractor engagement, management and sourcing strategy as well as authoring bid proposal documentation relating to Supply Chain Management Planning and contracting options for the Supply Chain
Proactively supporting Roke's Ecosystem development, identifying and driving supplier collaboration and innovation opportunities
Developing supplier collaboration and the required supporting agreements
Developing processes to support programmes in meeting and improving internal and external KPI's; interpreting and analysing performance trends to effectively prioritise team resource
Utilising proactive risk management, foresees and mitigates risks and deploys a variety of techniques to analyse issues and delays, driving recovery
Driving supplier and service rationalisation where appropriate
Managing strategic and critical supplier relationships and supporting the wider business in developing and enhancing these relationships
Undertaking complex and high value supplier negotiations, adjusting style and technique as needed to secure favourable terms and key contract protections (e.g. around intellectual property, limitations of liability and termination rights); executing in accordance with policy
Working with the Engineering and Quality departments to ensure thorough and efficient resolutions to supplier quality issues are delivered within Roke's non-conformance process
Driving continuous improvement initiatives to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of supply chain activities
Ensuring that the appropriate supply risk and audit activities are conducted
Ensuring full compliance with Roke's policies and procedures;Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Ideally holds MCIPS qualification
Extensive experience of working with the categories or technology relevant to the assigned business area
Extensive experience of leading supply chain elements of the bid process including sourcing and negotiation and authoring supporting artefacts including customer facing plans and proposals
Category or portfolio management experience including the implementation of supply chain strategy
Extensive commercial and contract management knowledge within high value and/or complex portfolios
Extensive experience in leading and drafting terms and conditions, including software and data licenses
Strong business acumen, with a good knowledge of supplier relationship management and collaboration models and approaches or techniques necessary to achieve best in class performance
Demonstrable track record of developing and maintaining strong stakeholder and supplier relationships
Experience leading small teams or supporting, coaching and mentoring more junior team members
Methodical and analytical mind-set and with ability to apply procurement theory in a flexible, efficient and effective manner
Tenacious when managing change through an organisation
Knowledge of advanced e-business tools that could be utilised to further optimise the procurement processes and enhance collaborationThe Benefits and Perks
