You will work closely with teachers and other support staff to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment. Key Responsibilities of Mental Health Teaching Assistant: Assist in the development and implementation of individualized education plans for students with SEMH needs. Provide one-on-one and small group support to help students understand and complete their work. Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to teachers and adjusting support strategies as necessary. Participate in meetings and discussions to share insights and strategies for supporting each student’s learning and well-being. Help foster a welcoming and supportive atmosphere where all students feel valued and included. Employ different instructional techniques and materials to cater to the diverse learning styles and needs of students. Keep detailed notes on each student’s development and communicate this information to teachers, parents, and other relevant parties. Requirements of Mental Health Teaching Assistant: Experience working with students with SEMH needs. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with students, parents, and colleagues. Ability to establish trust and rapport with all members of the school community. Deep commitment to helping students with SEMH needs, exhibiting patience and empathy in your interactions. Additional qualifications or training in special education are advantageous but not mandatory. A DBS registered to update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
