Job summary We are looking for a Consultant Ophthalmologist with an interest in Glaucoma at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust. This is a full time post with a minimum of 10 programmed activities. The post holder will share clinical and managerial leadership within the Ophthalmology service with the present consultants. The appointee will be expected to be involved actively in Clinical Governance and Quality improvement projects. Continuing education, professional development and teaching are actively encouraged and research and audit opportunities will be available. Please note the simulation date is 22nd July 2025 and the interview date is 6th August 2025 Main duties of the job To provide a comprehensive glaucoma service in both in-patient and out-patient settings. To provide clinical leadership in both glaucoma management and in general ophthalmic services including responsibility for supervision and development of junior medical staff including a glaucoma fellow, and teaching, training and assessment of medical, nursing and allied health professional staff within the service. To liaise with appropriate acute services within and beyond the Trust. To provide on-call cover for Ophthalmology services. To assess performance against national standards quarterly and identify areas requiring improvement.
