This key role supports the University's mission to increase its number of high-achieving students from widening access backgrounds. About Opportunity Oxford: Opportunity Oxford is a major University-wide programme supporting selected offer-holders transition from school to university. The programme works with around 600+ offer holder students annually through an online academic course, with 200 also participating in a two-week residential programme in Oxford. The programme develops high-level academic skills and aims to ensure students are well-prepared for their Oxford experience and further studies. Role Overview: As the Opportunity Oxford Officer, you will:
1. Collaborate with the Opportunity Oxford Team (the Programme Lead, Coordinator, and two Assistant roles) and with access and outreach colleagues across the collegiate University to manage the continuous development and implementation of the programme.
2. Oversee the delivery of online and in-person events.
3. Drive the external communications strategy, engaging with students, teachers, parents and families.
4. Manage data quality and provide regular evaluation reports, ensuring continued improvements to the programme and its practices.
5. Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders including academics and colleagues working in access and outreach, student support, and conferences and events.
Key Responsibilities: • Manage the operational delivery of the programme’s online events, the online academic course held on the University’s virtual learning environment (Canvas), and the in-person residential in Oxford.• Implement and support internal and external communications strategies, taking the lead in managing significant areas of stakeholder relationships. • Manage, support and develop the skills of student ambassadors during event delivery.• Ensure high-quality data management and reporting which contributes to the evaluation of the programme.• Propose and implement improvements to the programme and practices. • Collaborate with the Opportunity Oxford programme team and colleagues across the university’s colleges and faculties.
