Science Technician – Permanent Position
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Science Technician to support the delivery of practical science lessons in a well-resourced and dynamic school environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual with a passion for science and a keen eye for detail to play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of the science department.
Key Responsibilities:
* Preparing, setting up, and maintaining equipment and materials for practical science lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
* Ensuring all science laboratories and prep rooms are organised, well-stocked, and meet health and safety regulations.
* Providing technical support to teachers during lessons, assisting with demonstrations and experiments where required.
* Managing the safe disposal of chemicals and biological materials in accordance with health and safety guidelines.
* Keeping accurate records of stock levels, placing orders, and managing budgets for science resources.
* Maintaining and repairing laboratory equipment to ensure functionality and safety.
* Supporting students during practical sessions to enhance their learning experience.
Person Specification:
* A strong background in science, ideally with a qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g., A-levels or a degree in Science).
* Previous experience in a laboratory or school science department is desirable but not essential.
* Good organisational and time-management skills.
* Awareness of health and safety procedures in a laboratory environment, including COSHH regulations.
* A proactive and adaptable approach to work, with strong problem-solving skills.
* The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
