Every team member contributes to our lasting impact. Help keep the nation's critical digital infrastructures connected and protected.
The Bid Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating bid teams, including subject matter experts, bid writers, and commercial leads, to produce compelling written and financial submissions that support Telent in winning projects. They will manage the full bid lifecycle for medium-value opportunities, ensuring alignment with Telent’s bid governance procedures. This includes overseeing cost model inputs, organising cost reviews, documenting key decisions, and tracking submission progress to ensure timely reviews.
Collaborating closely with Sales, Technical, and Commercial teams to deliver high-quality, successful proposals. The role also involves promoting best practices to continuously improve bid quality, monitoring bid-related costs to maximise return on investment, and supporting customer relationships through meetings and presentations as needed.
What you’ll do:
* Lead and develop bid-winning strategies in partnership with opportunity owners and business heads.
* Produce materials from Go/No Go stage through to deal review, bid submission, and win/loss reviews.
* Support post-bid submission activities, including preparation of bid presentations.
* Assist the Business Planning Director with workload planning, bid forecasting, cost, and win/loss tracking and reporting.
* Conduct bid and proposal reviews—both successful and unsuccessful—including recommendations for improvement.
* Ensure Telent’s Bid wiki (Bid library) is updated with information from bids you have led.
* Share lessons learned with bid teams.
Who you are:
The ideal candidate will be an experienced bid professional with a proven track record of leading and delivering successful multiple small-value bids concurrently, preferably in telecommunications, defence, or public services sectors. You will have excellent project management, organisational, and interpersonal skills, capable of coordinating multidisciplinary teams to produce high-quality written and financial submissions.
You should be APMP qualified (or working towards it), financially astute, and confident in writing and reviewing tender responses. A solid understanding of IT and telecommunications, with the ability to simplify complex problems and communicate effectively at all levels, is essential. Experience winning work with TfL (London Underground, Overground, Elizabeth Line, DLR) would be highly advantageous.
Key Requirements:
* APMP or equivalent qualification (or demonstrable evidence of working towards it).
* Strong Microsoft Office skills.
* ITT quality response writing skills.
* ITT cost response financial skills.
* Extensive experience managing and leading a bid team (often virtually), driving efficiencies, reviews, and continual improvement to enhance bid success rates.
* Strong project management and organisational skills.
* Financially astute with the ability to interpret financial reports and models.
* Proven ability to write and review tender answers to a winning standard.
