Job Description
As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within our Enterprise Technology, Infrastructure Platforms division, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.
Having joined the Messaging product team in Infrastructure Platforms, you will work within a cross-functional group that takes end-to-end responsibility for the Messaging products at the firm. You will be responsible for engineering scalable, resilient, secure and supportable RabbitMQ, SQS, AmazonMQ services across public and private cloud providers.
Job responsibilities
1. Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
2. Engineering enhancements that traverse a diverse software stack.
3. Being a culture carrier for modern development practices and agile principles including disciplined refinement and story splitting, pair programming, test driven development, and clean code.
4. Being a culture carrier for an inclusive and collaborative team-based development model that experiments and learns from setbacks.
5. Automating Infrastructure-as-code, using Terraform
6. Automating the installation, upgrade, scaling and management of a large and rapidly growing estate of RabbitMQ clusters.
7. Develop a custom platform control plane that provide a secure platform.
8. Define and build value-add services on the platform using cloud-native principles
9. Participate in software and system performance analysis and tuning, service capacity planning and demand forecasting
10. Drive technical innovation and efficiency in infrastructure operations via developing tools and automation
11. Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
12. Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and applied experience
13. Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
14. Proficient in coding in one or more modern programming languages, ideally Java.
15. Experience working with modern private & public cloud infrastructure platforms - AWS EC2/EKS/ECS, and AWS serverless components such as Lambda, SQS, SNS
16. Terraform, Salt Stack, and other automation tools
17. Passionate about learning new skills and technologies
18. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills - desire and expertise to build and solve complex problems in systems at scale
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
19. Experience in AWS Architecture design & implementation
20. Experience of Infrastructure as Code
21. Experience of orchestration tools such as Salt Stack or Ansible
22. Experience with RabbitMQ, SQS and AmazonMQ
