Quality Engineer
Our client is a precision engineering company providing high-quality vacuum products and services for customers in the science and semiconductor industry. They are currently looking for a Quality Engineer to join their team at their new, purpose-built manufacturing facility near Hailsham. They have entered an exciting new phase in their development as they embark on an ambitious expansion program. Their products are used at NASA, the European Space Agency, and the Large Hadron Collider at CERN.
Main Responsibilities:
* Understand customer requirements and industry best practices to develop a strategy for improving the quality of all products.
* Lead and coordinate root cause analysis of quality issues relating to product, purchased parts, and customer complaints to install permanent solutions and prevent re-occurrence.
* Own the RMA process, ensuring that customer feedback is driven to the highest standards of service.
* Manage the administration of the internal quality process (NCR, CAR) to ensure speed of containment, corrective action, root cause analysis, and resolution of issues.
* Work as a hands-on member of the Quality team to deliver the outcomes.
* Assist with supplier selection through robust qualification, including aligning process capabilities and ensuring Quality Assurance practices are in place.
Essential Skills/Experience Required:
* Experience in the use of Continuous Improvement tools & techniques.
* Structured, organized approach to work providing a consistent/detail approach to problem solving.
* Five years’ experience working in a similar manufacturing environment and possess a good understanding of using Quality and Process management tools and methodology, including 5S/6S, flowcharts, VSM, Kaizen, Pareto, QCPC, 8D, Cause & Effect, Ishikawa, 5 whys, etc.
Desirable Skills/Experience:
* Using CMM or Faro Arm devices and a range of metrology equipment typically used in machine shop environments.
* Previous experience of working in vacuum science would be advantageous.
Required Qualifications:
* Degree qualified Mechanical Engineer.
* Qualified to ONC/HNC level in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing or relevant Quality professional qualification.
