We have an excellent opportunity to join the bank as a Quality Engineering Lead. This role is to manage the Quality Engineering practice across our technology infrastructure estate. You will play a key technical role and will report into the Senior Quality Engineering Lead in shaping the infrastructure testing strategy, tooling and processes leveraged throughout Santander UK. You will also use your stakeholder management skills to partner across the broader Testing Centre of Excellence (TCoE) technology domains as well as Santander Group. The difference you'll make: Establishing Infrastructure Testing as a Practice, Framework, Standard, Strategy and Approach to ensure the highest quality of delivery, quality guardrails and operational change Creating Target (To-Be) Operating Model by reviewing the current testing scope, practices, and quality controls of Infrastructure to identify gaps and propose recommendations Leading and managing Infrastructure testing initiatives and engagements, aligned to supporting and managing the day-to-day implementation of technology change Representing Infrastructure within Testing Centre of Excellence (TCoE) to improve quality, highlighting the standards of engineering skills needed to move towards a defined technology architecture across the testing domain Collaborating with Architecture to develop a framework that ensures clear decision making and assessing new solutions against alignment or convergence from the target roadmap Collaborating with the wider team in the Technology to evolve the Quality Engineering domain and organisational construct, ensuring it continually meets the needs of the business What you'll bring: These are the essential requirements you need to be successful in this role: A proven track record of operating within a quality engineering and infrastructure domain with the ability to simplify, standardise and automate quality engineering practises SME knowledge and hands on ability across all aspects of Infrastructure Quality and Testing in both functional and non-functional (including Performance, Capacity, Operational Acceptance, High Availability Disaster Recovery - HADR) and with a clear understanding of necessary industry leading testing tools and processes Skilled and knowledgeable across quality engineering practises comprising infrastructure and application, Datacentre and Public Cloud, Virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, AWS EC2), Clustering techniques (e.g., High Availability, Failover), load balancing methods (e.g., hardware, software), firewall technologies (e.g., stateful firewalls, next-generation firewalls) and Disaster Recovery Planning Comfortable collaborating across the infrastructure peer group, including implementing and integration of testing best practise and standards Experience managing the day-to-day implementation of Infrastructure Quality Able to troubleshoot complex testing scenarios prior to production rollout It would also be nice for you to have: Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., OpenShift, Terraform, Ansible) DevOps, Continuous Integration / Delivery / Testing Infrastructure & Capacity Monitoring What else you need to know: This role is a permanent position to be based in Milton Keynes. To support this, we offer site-based contracts with a hybrid working pattern and our expected level of attendance in an office is at least 12 days per month (pro-rata for part-time roles).
