Sales Engineer Van Conversion Division

Operating Nationwide and dealing with some of the largest fleets in the country, they provide optimum solutions and a seamless service tailored to meet the exact requirements of their clients. Due to their continued progressive growth, diversification, and further expansion into a purpose-built facility in early 2023, they currently have a fantastic and exciting opportunity for a Sales Engineer to take a vital role in the Company’s further expansion. You will be an integral part of their existing Van Conversion Division and your experience will contribute to taking them to the next level.
The company is recognized as the preferred supplier for the UK’s biggest manufacturer of vehicle safety systems and the Welfare and Van Conversion Market. Dealing with leading vehicle manufacturers and suppliers such as Ford, Sortimo, System Edstrom, and Rhino, they provide bespoke solutions for clients up and down the country. Our client is looking to recruit a highly organized, proactive, and enthusiastic Sales Engineer who can confidently communicate at all levels. You will be a motivated and ambitious team member with a desire to expand your knowledge and experience to further develop your future career with them. Ideally, you will have a minimum of 3 years experience within the van conversion/build environment, automotive industry, or similar background, with 3D SolidWorks software experience being an advantage or relevant transferable skills and/or qualifications to underpin your knowledge.
The ideal candidate will be willing to learn and ideally have a passion/interest in engineering and be able to work to a high standard on their own initiative and as part of a team. Drawing on your experience and passion, you will be responsible for designing anything from a simple racking system to more specialist bespoke designs, striving to provide the best possible customer solution at every opportunity, and building long-standing working relationships with new and existing clients. You will be responsible for ensuring that every van conversion design provides the optimum solution for new and existing clients and meets all the required legislative requirements while working with vehicle manufacturers, VCA, VOSA, and other professional authorities.
Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
* Work alongside Sales, Compliance, and Installation Engineers.
* Prepare and interpret all required documentation, including technical information and calculations.
* Read technical drawings, provide technical support, and resolve technical issues.
* Develop all designs in line with agreed concepts and best manufacturing methods including van racking solutions, seating, onboard power, lighting, and accessories.
* Provide optimum, cost-effective, and innovative solutions.
* Generate Bill of Materials (BOM) and Cutting Lists.
* Work with CAD and have the ability to work with third-party CAD systems.
* Meet both internal and external deadlines.
* Liaise with new and existing suppliers and manufacturing representatives.
* Innovation, Research & Development into new suppliers, materials, products, designs, and concepts to continually enhance their competitive edge and client offering.
* Follow internal procedures and processes.
* Liaise effectively with internal departments such as Sales, Workshop, and Stores to efficiently manage each project and provide an efficient and practical working environment.
