We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic pharmacist to contribute to the care of patients admitted to our emergency department and acute medical unit.
You will be joining a small, friendly and well-respected team working across the emergency floor at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford (part of Mid and South Essex Hospitals NHS Trust).
The pharmacy department at Broomfield Hospital is a professional, forward-thinking department which gives all staff the opportunity to develop their full potential.
The successful candidate will be encouraged to complete a non-medical prescribing qualification to support the service if this has not already been undertaken.
Main duties of the job
You will be based at the Broomfield Hospital site, will be an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team, and will work to provide excellent care to patients in acute and emergency medicine.
You will help to improve patient care through effective medicines reconciliation and medicines optimisation. The role will also include ensuring protocols and guidelines are in line with local and national objectives to ensure cost-effective and safe prescribing within the department.
You will have excellent communication and negotiating skills working closely with patients and multiprofessional teams throughout the Emergency Village. You will be able to work under pressure and alone with excellent prioritisation skills.
You will ideally be (or working towards being) a qualified independent prescriber having achieved a minimum of a clinical diploma in pharmacy practice.
The role will also include an allocated area of responsibility within the pharmacy education and training team.
The successful applicant will contribute to the 7-day clinical pharmacy service to the emergency floor, which will involve working weekends (8am to 4pm) with flexible days off during the week in return.
