Head of Economic Regulation
Circa £125,000 per annum
We’re seeking a high performing leader to drive forward our Economic Regulation function at Anglian Water. This role comes with significant opportunity to influence our future strategy, influence future business plans and strengthen key regulatory relationships in a complex regulatory landscape.
Reporting to the Regulation Director, you will work closely with our Executive Committee and senior leadership in shaping key business decisions on regulatory matters.
You will translate complex regulatory requirements, such as PR29, into effective business decisions, helping our teams not only understand what the regulations require but also why they matter.
You will have significant accountability for regulatory submissions including future Price Review submissions and will lead and collaborate with teams across the business. Together you will ensure our Price Review and wider regulatory submissions are high-quality, influential and deliver against our regulatory obligations.
Collaboration both internally and externally will be essential across a range of stakeholders to help drive the future economic regulation landscape.
Key Responsibilities
* With significant accountability for regulatory submissions including the pivotal PR29 price review, you will lead and collaborate with teams across the business. Together you will ensure our price review and annual regulatory submissions are high-quality, influential and deliver against our regulatory obligations.
* Oversee critical regulatory submissions, including 5-year Price Review submissions and ensure our business plans deliver value while maintaining alignment with regulatory frameworks and long-term objectives.
* Connect regulatory expertise with broader business strategies, creating a cohesive and forward-thinking platform that aligns with our corporate goals. Working with internal teams and external stakeholders, including Ofwat, Defra, and other regulatory and governmental partners, to build trust and ensure alignment with regulatory and business goals.
* Lead a highly analytical function, including cost modelling and financial analysis, to underpin regulatory submissions and ensure robust, evidence-based decision-making.
* Lead and develop a talented Economic Regulation team, championing an inclusive and empowering culture.
Qualities and Experience
* Experience in economic regulation and a deep understanding of the regulatory landscape, coupled with the ability to navigate and influence complex frameworks.
* An unrivalled ability to translate complex economic and regulatory concepts into clear, relatable messages for diverse audiences, from the boardroom to peers.
* Proven experience representing an organization at a senior level, engaging effectively with regulators, government officials, politicians, and key industry stakeholders.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience with cost modelling and interpreting complex datasets.
* A leadership style that inspires trust, nurtures talent, and fosters collaboration.
