Strategic Flood Resilience Manager

Location: Yorkshire wide/ Hybrid Working (1 - 2 office days a week - Bradford/Leeds/Sheffield/Malton)
Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday - Friday.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Strategic Flood Resilience Manager to join the Strategy & Regulation team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?

Strategy & Regulation are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.
The role will directly support the surrounding Strategic Partnerships Team, with strong links to Waste Water Operations. It will work day to day with Local Authorities and Environment Agency to ensure compliance with Flood and Water Management Act, and will sit on various steering groups and project boards including Regional Flood and Coastal Committee.
Where you fit in:
As our Strategic Flood Resilience Manager you will
* Oversee and manage a team of Flood Risk Engineers and Specialists, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities to ensure high performance and motivation. The role will lead the development and implementation of a flood resilience approach for the business.
* Manage and develop our company flood plans, including annual reviews, continuous improvement, training and support for other business areas.
* Manage and develop our company Vulnerable Asset Plans, including annual reviews, continuous improvement, training and support for other business areas.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations, and industry standards related to flood risk. This includes responding to Section 14 and Section 18 requests under Flood and Water Management Act and ensuring compliance with the Land Drainage Act.
* Manage key relationships with Local Authorities, Environment Agency and other Risk Management Authorities to ensure a collaborative and holistic approach to flood risk management.
* Engage with communities, elected officials and flood groups to understand local flood risk concerns and opportunities to improve resilience.
* Guide and advise the business on the complex and interconnected nature of flood resilience by preparing detailed analysis, board level reports and presentations.
* Provide guidance and coaching during widespread flood events.
What skills & qualifications you will need:
* Degree in a relevant discipline or relevant experience in flood risk management
* People leader experience
* Strategy development and implementation
* Ability to effectively develop and maintain internal and external relationships
* Comprehensive understanding of the Flood and Water Management Act
* Sounds knowledge and experience of managing fluvial and pluvial flood risk
* Sounds knowledge and experience of managing drainage or sewerage systems
* Proven track record of complex problem solving and incident management
* Excellent stakeholder and customer management skills
* Excellent communication and engagement skill set
* Strong ability to influence and facilitate
* Self motivated, resilient and proactive nature

* A sound understanding of hydraulic design and modelling to work
