Job Description
AECOM is seeking an Associate/Regional Director level MEP Engineer to join our Building Services team to help lead and support the design delivery of a large international program of development.
The extent of the program covers a number of market sectors typically encompassing leisure, healthcare, cultural, educational and commercial facilities. Experience delivering projects in one or more of the sectors would be ideal.
The role will be UK based and not regionally specific. The candidate will be expected to liaise with our regional hubs and internationally based teams whilst working on specific projects.
About the role:
AECOM is looking to appoint an Associate/Regional Director (Electrical or Mechanical background) who has proven leadership skills and is familiar with working closely with clients & architects to deliver international projects.
Strong technical knowledge and experience of delivering projects from concept design all the way through to tender stage, as part of a large multi-disciplinary team is required.
The candidate should be confident in managing others and willing to delegate and verify technical delivery as necessary to deliver the appropriate level of technical information per stage in line with our project scope requirements.
An enthusiastic self-motivated person with excellent team leadership skills, in conjunction with strong written, verbal and presentation skills are considered key attributes for the role.
About AECOM MEP team:
The AECOM UK&I Building Engineering team is a large team of over 900 employees at all levels of experience executing work in many different market sectors nationally and internationally. It is the intention to build upon the excellent growth achieved over the last number of years in the business through increased internationally based opportunities. The role proposed will afford the successful candidate the opportunity to work with key personnel both nationally and internationally across the AECOM business.
Job Responsibilities:
* To lead a team of MEP engineers, technical specialists to support the technical delivery of large building projects.
* To actively participate in the development of the delivery team and ensure AECOM delivers the quality required to ensure a successful outcome for AECOM and our Clients.
* To build and grow Client and Architect relationships to support the continued growth of the business.
* Support on bidding opportunities and act as the technical team leader for projects, from feasibility through to handover.
* To identify change and where required liaise/support the project Commercial Manager with supporting technical justification for the change.
* To act as the main point of contact for MEP with design teams.
* Ensure financial targets and internal KPI’s are met including motivating others to contribute.
* To prepare and present designs, reports and specifications.
* Contribute to the update of AECOM standards.
* Be competent to deliver, review and approve engineering solutions.
* To act as a mentor to junior staff, promoting CPD activities.
* To maintain and enhance expertise within the team and as an individual.
* To lead and support AECOM Net zero carbon strategy.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
* A highly motivated individual with excellent technical understanding of civil and structural engineering along with a solid understanding of the requirements of other disciplines collaborating on multi-disciplinary projects.
* A track record of successful collaboration with design teams nationally and internationally.
* Ability to speak fluently and communicate effectively in written reports and oral presentations.
* An experienced Building Services Engineer presently holding a senior position.
* Relevant experience in Building Services design, including areas such as specification writing, calculations, and developing designs from first principles and conversant with UK/International codes and standards.
* Experience of seeing conceptual designs through to completion and dealing directly with clients.
* Able to make decisions, act on their own initiative and operate in a pro-active way.
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree educated in electrical or mechanical engineering or related discipline, ideally Chartered or at least with qualifications leading to this.
