2gether Support Solutions is a Facilities and Estates services company providing support to healthcare professionals caring for over 2000 patients daily across multiple East Kent hospital sites. 2gether provides vital services including maintenance, cleaning, catering, procurement, logistics and much more.
The Role:
We are seeking a Senior Category Buyer to join our Procurement team (within the Medical and Surgical Category), based at William Harvey Hospital, on a 12 months fixed term contract, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday 8am - 4pm. Senior Category Buyers play a pivotal role within the Procurement team, supporting the development of, and implementing, sourcing strategies to drive cost saving, quality improvements and supplier performance excellence within the Corporate Service category.
You'll be part of the Medical and Surgical Category team, and work closely with them in ensuring delivery of our procurement contracts, helping to deliver work plans, as well as transactional procurement requirements and tender management. You will utilise specialist procurement knowledge to maximise cost savings, and manage operational activity in this dynamic and varied role. The Senior Category Buyer also has line management responsibility of the Category Buyer, Buyer and Purchasing Assistant, assisting in the training, appraisal and development of the team.
Key responsibilities:
* Provide excellent procurement and contracting services, managing the routing operation and administration of the procurement service whilst identifying opportunities for efficiencies and process improvements.
* Lead on procurement activities including planning and tender selection strategies.
* Facilitate a competitive market for the organisations and our customer’s requirements.
* Stakeholder management, including regular meetings to improve communication and coordination of procurement activities and defining and specifying stakeholder’s business needs.
* Work in accordance with EU directives, national legislation, local regulations and organisation policies to include its Standard Financial Instructions.
* Provide contract information to the Data Team to support and maintain an electronic catalogue of products and pricing information.
* Monitor suppliers regularly against KPIs with specific contracts, ensuring continual best value for money is achieved.
* Contribute to ensuring sustainability is considered with regards to procurement activity and work towards the organisations environmental impact.
The Person:
The ideal candidate will be education to a Degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline (for example, Business Studies of Management) however we are open to consider relevant experience. They will also have:
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
* The ability to work independently and manage their workload accordingly
* Experience or knowledge of procurement, supply and contracting purposes.
* Strong IT skills.
