The Role:
You will be joining a growing legal function assisting the Head of Legal with support provided a paralegal. The legal team supports the whole of NatPower UK and you will be working across all parts of the business to deliver legal solutions.
Job Activities Description:
* support the Head of Legal in providing a first class legal and governance service to the NatPower UK Group by assisting with managing and negotiating transactions to ensure NatPower’s strategic and commercial objectives are achieved whilst also identifying and mitigating any material legal risks;
* with support from external legal advisors, provide advice internally to teams across NatPower on a variety of areas of law including property, planning, construction, banking, corporate, maritime and charity with a focus on contract management, due diligence, risk management and negotiation, making sure that NatPower is capable of being commercial, as well as achieving its goal of being at the forefront of the UK renewable energy transition;
* provide legal guidance and support throughout the lifecycle of renewable energy related projects, from initial development and financing to construction, operation and potential asset acquisition or divestiture;
* review and assist with the negotiation of a variety of renewable energy project development, construction and operational agreements, including options to lease, options to purchase, s106 agreements, joint venture agreements, development services agreements, EPC contracts, O&M contracts, power purchase agreements, procurement contracts, off-take and interconnection agreements;
* keep up to date on evolving energy regulations and policies in the UK and EU and in particular those affecting the NatPower business and carrying out appropriate horizon scanning;
* manage external legal fees to ensure business costs are kept to a minimum and manage external legal advice to ensure robust and commercially useful advice is provided to the business;
* manage and assist with day-to-day governance support for the NatPower UK Group;
* support with protecting the NatPower UK Group’s brand and intellectual property;
* develop and deliver training to upskill other teams within NatPower;
* maintain and develop user-friendly guidance and templates;
* assist with developing and implementing the NatPower UK Group’s legal, contract and compliance policies, processes and procedures, making sure that joined up working is taking place across a range of teams.
What we are looking for:
Essential:
* Qualified solicitor in England and Wales with 4+ years post-qualification experience in a transactional area of law (such as corporate, commercial, commercial property, energy or construction);
* 2:1 degree (or higher) in LLB or via appropriate conversion course;
* trained at a top 100 UK law firm;
* right to work in the UK and eligible to practice as a lawyer in the UK;
* excellent IT literacy with experience of using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint);
* strong skills in drafting and reviewing contractual documents and related legal knowledge;
* interest in leveraging technology to deliver scalable legal solutions for the business;
* exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust at all levels; and
* capacity to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, meeting deadlines and delivering results under pressure.
