Senior Quantity Surveyor - Infrastructure
Location - Norwich
Purpose of the role:
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will work closely with your line manager to manage the commercial administration, reporting and performance on a single large project or several smaller schemes.
Key Accountabilities
1. Ensure a safe working environment.
2. Produce Subcontract documentation including negotiation of terms and conditions, prices, and programme.
3. Management of subcontract works packages including, interim assessments of the amount due and subsequent change management.
4. Produce and issue all commercial notices, to both the Client and Subcontractors, as required by the form of contract.
5. Oversee and manage change in a timely manner in accordance with the form of contract, including the production and submission of Compensation Event Quotations.
6. Produce, submit, and agree monthly applications, to the Client, in accordance with the form of contract.
7. Liaise with operational and engineering staff to ensure site records are kept to the standard required.
8. Produce detailed monthly reports and Cost Value Reconciliation's (CVR) as required by the business unit or project.
9. Produce and maintain a detailed 'Cost Plan', tracking and forecasting expenditure, including detailed schedules of Subcontractor 'liabilities' and use of Oracle based cost analyses.
10. Interpret and critically evaluate expenditure reports produced by internal cost systems.
11. Managing weekly progress and risk reduction meetings with the client and subcontractors.
12. Apply the principles of 'Doing the right thing' in maximising value and profit.
13. Be available to assist estimating and bid teams with contractual expertise.
Person Specification - to effectively undertake this role you will need the following:
Competency Requirements
1. Good appreciation of standard forms of contract.
2. Strong IT skills including Excel, Word & Contractual and Cost Management Systems (CEMAR, Oracle).
3. Strong stakeholder management and communication capabilities.
4. Solid knowledge of construction processes.
5. First class time and outcome management skills.
Technical / Professional Qualifications Required
1. Professional qualification such as MCIOB or MRICS, ideally Incorporated member, working towards full membership (Desirable).
2. Relevant degree and/or experience of working in a relevant Commercial environment.
3. Experience of working on large single or multiple smaller schemes.
4. CSCS appropriate.
