Effluent Treatment Plant Operator Artigarvan Lakeland Dairies Co-operative Society Limited (The Group) is the second largest dairy processor on the island of Ireland. The Groups Agribusiness Division (Lakeland Agri) operates a state of the art Animal Feed Manufacturing Facility and is a leading and innovative provider of the highest quality feeds and agricultural inputs to dairy, beef and sheep farmers across the north and south of Ireland. A position is currently available as part of the team looking after the companys waste water treatment plants. The role involves the operation, monitoring and troubleshooting of this facility. This will include testing water samples to ensure compliance with relevant environmental regulations, routine checks, general housekeeping and maintenance duties. The successful applicant will also be expected to monitor the plants performance and complete site performance check sheets. Full training will be provided for the successful applicant. Applicants must be confident in the use of basic computer programmes, for example Microsoft Excel, and experience in operating a tractor and trailer would be beneficial, although not essential. Applicants should be flexible with regard to hours of work and be available to work customary holidays, weekends and as part of a shift pattern which may include nights. Applicants must have the ability to work unsupervised and must possess good communication skills in order to be able to report to the environmental team on the performance of the plant. POSITION Effluent Treatment Plant Operator DEPARTMENT Environmental SITE Artigarvan REPORTING TO Environmental Supervisor/Manager THE ROLE The ETP operator has responsibility for managing the daily operation of the ETP. Work is performed with considerable independence under the direction of the Supervisor & Manager, subject to review through reports and results achieved. The role also involves: Compliance with licence discharge parameters Treatment of water supplying the site. Ensuring health and safety standards are maintained RESPONSIBILITIES Complete sampling and internal testing of ETP samples daily to maintain compliance with legal licensing and regulations governing the ETP Maintaining, compiling, and updating plant operation logs Completing daily plant checks and operations. Identify process issues and seek assistance from Maintenance Engineers Complete daily visual checks and weekly preventative maintenance checks of equipment Complete and record daily water meter readings Liaise with the maintenance department on the weekly checks of the cooling towers, adding relevant chemicals and lifting laboratory samples Addition of chemicals and salt to the borehole water on site Empty onsite interceptors Respond to alarms to ensure downtime is limited and the plants are always running well. Competent in operating a tractor and tanker to transport waste from the factory to the AD plant. Liaise with the services team leader and offload materials as directed. Being on call to respond to emergencies and react to any breakdowns at the plant on a rotating basis. Maintaining open communications with the Supervisor & Manager regarding the treatment process, operation, and malfunctions and making recommendations for repairs and improvements to these systems. Provide a service to remove reject product from departments as and when required and transport to the AD plant Ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. This may include Health & Safety and HR policies and procedures.
