There’s a little boy, living in Pontypridd, who needs your help.
Jacob is a young boy whose had a difficult start to life. He’s experienced things no child should have to experience. For this reason, Jacob lives in one of our dedicated children’s homes. He gets 24-hour care, and therapeutic support in the hope that his future can be brighter than his past. To support him– We need you.
Jacob loves to be active, which means the team spend a lot of time swimming, playing football, and going on long walks looking for an adventure! He’s really creative and when the opportunity is there, really likes going to the theatre. It’s not just watching plays he likes, he loves to take part too, so our team are often playing dress up and putting on performances! His creativity doesnt end there. On a quieter day, he enjoys spending time doing arts, crafts, and colouring.
You’ll have to be on your toes with Jacob! He’s a real practical joker with a very witty sense of humour. You’ll always be on your toes when he’s in a cheeky mood.
Jacob needs good role models to help him grow. He can have difficult days and need more help at home, especially if overwhelmed. Your support on those days will make the good days even more special. You’ll really be able to see the positive impact of your time and watch him flourish. We really need a strong, resilient team who are not just looking for a job but want to spend the next few years working closely with Jacob to help prepare him for adult life.
Jacob needs support 24 hours a day, meaning you’ll be able to work your full week in 2-3 days, which is only 10 shifts per month!
Whilst Jacob is the only child in the home at the moment, this may change in the future as we’re looking for the ideal child to share the house with him.
*Jacob is not the real name of the child you’ll be supporting, but the other details about him are true.
A day in the life of a Support Worker will involve:
1. Supporting children to have the best quality of life possible. Whether it be through baking at home, fun days out, or holidays with them. You could be doing anything from making sure the children have a healthy diet to taking them to Cardiff on a shopping trip!
2. Ensuring our children are kept safe and their plans are suitable for their needs. We’ll need you to help monitor their development by keeping our systems and records up to date. Don’t worry though, you’ll get all the training you need.
