On 1 April 2019 Cwm Taf University Health Board changed its name to Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board as it took responsibility for providing healthcare services for the people in the Bridgend County Borough area. Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB now provides primary, community, hospital, and mental health services to the 450,000 people living in three County Boroughs – Bridgend, Merthyr Tydfil, and Rhondda Cynon Taf.
Ideally situated between Wales’s capital city, Cardiff, to the south, the coastal town of Porthcawl to the west, and the stunning scenery of the Brecon Beacons to the north, we operate within a vibrant community, rich in history and heritage.
Services will continue to be delivered across a network of Community Clinics, Health Centres and Community Hospitals supported by three District General Hospitals, Princess of Wales hospital in Bridgend, Prince Charles hospital in Merthyr Tydfil, and Royal Glamorgan hospital in Llantrisant.

Job overview
The post holder will work closely with the Haematology Nurse Manager and the Blood Transfusion Service Manager to maintain and support the integrated implementation of all local, National and International regulatory and specialist transfusion guidelines and requirements. Effective quality and risk management will be promoted by establishing and supporting a culture of continuous quality improvement within all aspects of clinical and laboratory Blood Transfusion Practice throughout the Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB).
The post holder will represent Transfusion within the Health Board's Clinical Governance structure and participate within the Health Board’s Transfusion Team, to continually implement and abide by the Blood Safety & Quality Regulation 2005/50.
The post holder will have ring-fenced time as agreed by the haematology nursing manager and the blood transfusion service manager to perform clinical duties, preferably within the Haematology Day Unit.
The post holder will be asked to undertake other duties as determined by the transfusion team and commensurate with the post.
Advert
The post holder will provide expert advice, education and training to all levels of staff to improve the safety and effectiveness of the practice of blood transfusion medicine throughout the CTMUHB, in accordance with Blood Transfusion policies and procedures.
This post will be based in Prince Charles hospital, but will be expected to work across multiple sites in CTMUHB.
This is a job share to make up a full term post.
This post is Fixed Term/Secondment for 12 months due to the needs of the service.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration. This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service. Welsh language skills are desirable.

* Degree/ Higher Degree/ First level Nursing Qualification/ Registered Biomedical Scientist.

* Knowledge and understanding of legislation, national and local policies relating to blood transfusion.
