We are seeking a talented Product Design Engineer to join our team in Manchester. As a Product Design Engineer focusing on Military Uniforms, you will play a crucial role in creating innovative and functional designs that meet the specific requirements of military personnel.
Responsibilities
1. Engineer and create products to meet the needs of our customers either through face to face engagement or from build to print documents.
2. Taking ownership of the project and controlling each element such as fabric choice, fit, function, continual improvement through feedback, end user engagement and customer visits.
3. Advising the in-house team of sample machinists and taking a hands-on attitude.
4. Set up fabric and trim library in the technical office and ensuring each component meets the customer and testing requirements.
5. With the in-house Technical team, choose the most suitable fabric and trims for the products to be designed ensuring that the customer requirements are met and key tests are conducted and analysed.
6. With the in-house Pattern Making team, create the graded size charts for all products that provide the product size roll for the customer and for use in the quality control of the product, review and prove fit by means of in-house tests for example.
7. With the Sample team and sourcing offices, ensure the products developed have all features and functions necessary to meet the needs of our customers and keep within an agreed budget.
8. Create product specifications for customer and production use.
9. Meet with customers and discuss product improvements.
10. Identify areas of potential development in product or customer base.
11. To identify opportunities for improving the method of operation in your area of responsibility.
12. Any other duties deemed necessary by management.
13. Observe all Company Rules, Standard Operating Procedures and Company Policies particularly in relation to Health and Safety, Harassment, Disciplinary and ICT Security.
14. Maximize efficiency by supporting Cooneen Lean continuous improvement activities.

Requirements
Essential:
1. Experience of engineering clothing products in line with the end user requirements.
2. Proven track record of garment technology, preferably within a manufacturing setting.
3. Experience of computerized design or pattern packages, i.e Gerber/Illustrator/Photoshop.
4. Experienced in the use of MS office, particularly MS Word & Excel.
5. Must have experience of customer liaisons and fit meetings.
6. Ability to travel within the UK and further afield.
7. Willing if required, to undertake a CRB Check.
Desirable:
1. HND or Degree in a design or clothing discipline or equivalent.
2. QC experience of garments & fabric.
3. A technology related qualification.
4. Clean current driving license.
