Job Advert: Interim Estates and Valuation Manager (6-month contract)

Rate:£500 per day
Contract Length: 6 months
Work Arrangement: 1-2 days per week on-site
About the Role:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Interim Estates and Valuation Manager to join a forward-thinking council in Cumbria. This is a vital role overseeing the Commercial Estates team and valuation function, ensuring the smooth running of services while leading key projects to strengthen the team. This 6-month interim contract offers an exciting opportunity to manage and develop a high-performing team of surveyors, support a team restructure, and contribute to the ongoing success of the estates service.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage the Commercial Estates team, ensuring high-quality service delivery and compliance with council policies and procedures.
* Oversee the valuation function, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant legislation.
* Assist with the recruitment and onboarding of new team members to help build a team of 10 surveyors.
* Guide and support the team through an ongoing restructure, ensuring minimal disruption to service delivery.
* Maintain ‘business as usual’ in all estates and valuation activities, including managing relationships with key stakeholders and clients.
* Provide expert advice on estate management and valuation matters.
Key Requirements:
* Extensive experience in a local authority environment, ideally within estates and valuation management.
* Must be RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) qualified.
* Registered Valuer status is a distinct advantage.
* Proven experience managing and developing teams, with strong leadership capabilities.
* Demonstrable experience in overseeing or leading restructures and recruitment processes.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities effectively.
