We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Depot Manager to oversee the daily operations of our depot. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing logistics, supply chain processes, and ensuring efficient shipping and receiving activities. This role requires a strong leader who can supervise staff effectively while optimising business processes to enhance productivity and profitability.
About the Role:
As a Depot Manager, your responsibilities will include:
* Ensuring all administration tasks are completed accurately and submitted on time as per the company’s procedures and task deadlines.
* Providing assistance to all staff (drivers and yard) where applicable.
* Ensuring all deliveries and collections are fulfilled as per the instructions by the sales department. Ensuring all vehicles are maintained in a roadworthy condition, adhering to all vehicle maintenance schedules.
* Ensuring all drivers and yard staff comply with the driving time and Working Time directives respectively. Ensuring all yard staff complete all tasks and targets allocated by the depot manager.
* Ensuring all staff comply with the company’s H&S regulations.
* Ensuring all work conducted at the depot is done in the most efficient manner, taking the company, customers, and H&S regulations into consideration.
* Ensuring all administrative tasks are completed accurately and submitted on time to the relevant recipients and departments.
* Where necessary, providing assistance in the yard with loading/off-loading vehicles, welding, and customer deliveries/collections. Providing appropriate assistance to all Nat Ops Team members, Sales, Transport, and Head office if requested.
* Ensuring the integrity of the company is always maintained when dealing with customers, suppliers, and all internal staff.
* Ensuring all deliveries and collections are completed as requested, ensuring all relevant documentation is correctly completed by all drivers.
* Ensuring all drivers complete a daily inspection on all vehicles, ensuring all defects are recorded, reported to Transport, and the appropriate remedial repairs completed.
* Liaising with all Transport Service Providers to ensure all maintenance schedules are adhered to. Ensuring all staff comply with the driving time and Working Time Directives at all times.
* Monitoring and supervising all yard staff to ensure all daily, weekly, and monthly tasks and targets are completed by the task deadline.
* Ensuring all staff comply with all the company’s H&S regulations, ensuring all accidents and near misses are reported accordingly.
Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
* Proven experience in depot management, preferably in a manufacturing or logistics environment.
* Strong leadership and team management skills.
* Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
* Knowledge of health and safety regulations and quality control standards.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
