As a Programme Manager in the client's UK projects, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing Programme Management consultative and delivery services that may include Business and Transformational activity. Engagements may be stand-alone or delivered within a Portfolio or Programme Management Office. The Programme Manager will lead assignments, being responsible for the business outcome and its overall success.
Assignment Scope May Include:
Leading the delivery of large and complex change initiatives (formal Programmes and/or large/complex assignments)
Programme Management consultative services e.g. development of business requirements, fixing troubled projects/programmes & maturity assessmentThe Programme Manager will guide, motivate, and direct the customer's team and/or their team to achieve the agreed objectives. They are passionate about success and make a positive difference in the outcome of their assignment.
Team Collaboration:
Part of the Portfolio and Programme Management Practice within Group Professional Services
Line manager will be a Practice Manager from UK Projects
Likely to lead a virtual and/or matrix Regional/Global team
Engage with other areas within the company, including Sales Teams and Service Management
Lead delivery across all areas of the company and possibly third-party providers and Customer Teams
Engage and develop relationships with customers up to the CIO level, developing a deep understanding of the customer environment
During assignments, may report to the responsible Sales Specialist, Account Manager or Service Director and lead the delivery to the Customer or act as a member of the Customer team (as part of a resource augmentation assignment)
Work location will vary depending on the assignment, regular travel and on-site presence are expectedCore Responsibilities:
Provide consultancy services or lead end-to-end transformation programmes and/or projects within the company or the customer organisation
Shape strategy, design and delivery to ensure the Programme meets specific strategic objectives as part of the customer's wider Portfolio of Change
Provide thought leadership to stakeholders, both internal and external, to maximise customer Return on Investment against the agreed assignment objectives and business case
Understand and articulate to customers both what the company sells and delivers and have a good working knowledge of the technologies/solutionsCore Activities (Assignment Dependent):
Define and implement programmes of change to deliver strategic objectives
Act as the subject matter expert with customer and internal stakeholders to recommend and implement appropriate methodologies and assignment structures
Drive a culture of accountability and improvement across all UK Projects resources and third parties working on the assignment
Manage the assignment scope and understand the commercial baseline, supporting or leading the development, negotiation and agreement of the statement of work contract and any subsequent changes
Produce, or manage the production of, Programme artefacts including those related to the customer business case and benefits realisationHow Success is Measured:
Responsible for the successful delivery of assignments to the agreed financial baseline to meet (or exceed) the key performance indicators (KPIs)
Measured based on customer satisfaction (internal and external), business growth and team engagement
Personal objectives and development goals defined in a Personal Development Plan
Active engagement in and significant contribution to UK Projects activities/initiatives to enable the continual development of UK ProjectsKey Skills, Knowledge and Training Required:
A strategic mindset, strong leadership, and a proven ability to lead large and complex cross-functional assignments
Familiarity with current technologies and the ability to articulate the key benefits in line with the company's propositions
A demonstrable track record of delivering complex, high-risk assignments and multiple successful programmes
Ideally trained in project and programme management methodology, for example, MSP, P3M3, Prince2, Agile
A good understanding of business strategy including the ability to use strategy tools and techniques such as SWOT, PESTLE etc.
Experience to leverage knowledge of the customer and industry best practices to provide thought leadership, establishing long-term relationships built on trust and customer value
An advanced level of commercial acumen
Demonstrable leadership skills and personal gravitas at the CIO level
A proven track record in assurance, governance, and business management
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain relationships
Ability to consciously cultivate a strong professional Personal Brand and reputation
Able to apply a variety of influencing skills to enable the required outcomes for stakeholders and to enable positive assignment outcomes
Ability to apply a variety of approaches including emotional intelligence with flexibility, to adapt personal style and approach to meet specific customer needs and to resolve conflicts
Understand and be able to articulate the wider context of the assignment being led
