Greet and direct patients and visitors to the practice in a professional and efficient manner. Direct and assist patients to clinics where necessary. Book appointments, take home visits and prescription requests and prioritise emergency requests after liasing with clinical staff. Deal with routine enquiries, forwarding messages and taking appropriate action. Keep patients informed and updated of any changes or delay affecting clinics or appointments. Ensure patient confidentiality is maintained at all times. Ensure that an adequate ‘handover’ is performed to colleagues after each shift to ensure all outstanding jobs are passed over Ensure your working area is left clean and tidy and secured at the end of each day. General administrative duties, use of office equipment, copier and fax machine. Contribute to scheduling appointments on the clinical system and room availability. Provide cover for colleagues during holiday and sick leave. Utilise existing IT software ( and proactively contribute towards the collection of QOF data towards achievement of the GMS contract. Undertake training in line with the development of the post and as agreed with line manager as part of the personal development plan and fully participate in the organisations performance review process on an annual basis.
