Location: Airyhall School, Countesswells Road, Aberdeen
Duration: Permanent, Part Time
Aberdeen City Council is currently in discussions with Trade Unions regarding a proposal to move from a standard 37-hour full-time working week to a standard 35-hour full-time working week.
Please note: A decision has been reached, in consultation with our Trade Unions, that all new vacancies will be advertised on a maximum of 35 hours per week, and accordingly, new appointments made on a contract of 35 hours per week.
R oles that require PVG Membership
Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above (currently £30,727 per annum / £15.97 per hour)
The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.

To assist the Cook in Charge in the preparation and serving of meals in a safe, hygienic, efficient manner providing a high standard of customer service
The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:
• An Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate or willingness to undertake and pass this
course within 6 months.
• FSA – Food Standards Agency's food allergy online training and pass this course within
1 month
Full PVG certificate
The postholder is able to demonstrate:
• Awareness of risks within a kitchen environment.
• Ability to count cash and cheques.
• Sound written and numeracy skills
• Sound understanding of the English language
• Sound ICT skills pertaining to the functions of catering services
• Ability to follow defined recipes provided by the service for the preparation of meals
• Ability to deputise for any Cook in Charge during periods of absence
• High standard of hygiene awareness
