This is an exciting and new opportunity for a motivated embedded software engineer / firmware engineer to join a start-up involved with the research, development and design of optics / photonic technologies. Their technologies radically improve network speed and energy efficiency.
This embedded software engineer role involves:
1. Embedded software development for network interface card products
2. The use of embedded C++ for implementation of functions / features
3. Working with prototype hardware, identifying and root causing bugs and issues
4. Linux PCIe network driver development
5. PCIe peer-to-peer and GPU Direct
Candidates must have:
1. Excellent communication, organisation and motivational skills
2. The ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving, start-up organisation
3. Knowledge of high-speed network interface and optical transceiver systems (advantageous)
A good understanding of electronics product development coupled with proven embedded software development experience is required. Experience with high-speed network interface or optical transceiver product development would be excellent.
Embedded software design candidates may have worked in other arenas involving high-speed network technologies (e.g. network and data centre hardware, telecoms systems, storage / servers / HPC, consumer electronics or specialist test and measurement products).
Skills / Experience required:
Embedded Software Engineer
1. A degree or masters in a relevant subject area (e.g. electronics engineering)
2. Experience of embedded software development for high-speed networking products – e.g. optical transceivers, network / data centre electronics, telecoms systems, storage / servers / HPC, consumer electronics or specialist test and measurement products
3. Excellent embedded C / C++ programming ability
4. Able to support prototype hardware development, root cause analysis and debug
5. Linux PCIe network driver development experience would be good
6. PCIe peer-to-peer and GPU Direct experience would be advantageous
7. Excellent communication, organisation and motivational skills
8. The ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving, start-up organisation
9. Knowledge of high-speed network interface and optical transceiver systems (advantageous)
The Embedded Software Engineer role is based on site in Paignton, Devon 5 days per week. Relocation assistance and working visas may be possible for the right candidate.
