Job Profile: To carry out a range of duties within the day-to-day programme of the care for the elderly, including the following tasks:
• You will undertake all the duties of a carer as and when required
• To provide effective management of the home ensuring at all times the highest achievable standards of care are delivered to the client group whilst working within our policies and procedures.
• To work closely with the management at all times, ensuring that the management is informed of any changes to residents, staff and the environment.
• To try and ensure all care practices are evidence based and reflects current trends.
• To provide a role model for other carers working within the home.
• To provide effective fair leadership for all staff.
• To liaise closely with and build a sound professional working relationship with all other professionals e.g. Doctors, Social Workers, Inspection officers etc who visit the home.
• Be competent with admission, discharge and transfer forms
• Perform risk assessment on all residents
• Update and evaluate 3 monthly existing care plans
• Define key worker system
• To motivate all staff within the home.
• To take part in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of all care delivered to the residents.
• To regularly audit all the care documentation to ensure it meets the resident’s needs.
• To continuously seek out ways to developing the service
• To contact District nurses and G.P. when required
• To set an example in uniform attire, dedication and attitude
• To attend any training to further own knowledge and skills
• To do a walk about of the home and ensure that all rooms are tidy and clean with beds made and fresh towels and face cloths
• Morning shift to do a walk about at 11.00am
• Afternoon shift to do walk about at 9.00pm.
• Administer prescribed drugs at recommended times.
• Be aware of drug policies and procedures.
• Know drug uses, doses and interactions
• Know drug disposal and the bringing in of new drugs.
• Ensuring the confidentiality of the residents and their affairs and that the details are not transmitted in any way without the express permission of the person in charge.
• Employees are also bound to keep confidential the terms of their employment.
