Job Title: Employee Relations Care Advisor Start Date: ASAP Duration: 4 months (with possible extension) Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00–17:30 Location: Croydon, South London Band: 5 Pay: £21ph PAYE (inclusive of holiday pay) Job Summary: Provide first-line HR advice and support to staff and managers in line with Trust policies and employment law, focusing on sickness management, flexible working, and general employee relations. Key Responsibilities: Advise on short/long-term sickness, including supporting termination hearings and ill-health retirement. Support redeployment processes and offer guidance on complex/sensitive cases. Coach managers through sickness review meetings and reduce absence through active case management. Assist in appeal preparations and support flexible working applications and decisions. Monitor ESR data to track sickness, pay changes, and registration status. Identify HR concerns and collaborate on solutions with internal stakeholders. Lead on cases involving expired professional registrations. Maintain accurate case records and contribute to HR reporting. Provide general ER support, including on conduct, DBS, and FOI requests. Analyse HR data for trends and improvement areas. Essential Experience: Band 5 ER Advisor within an NHS Trust Minimum 2 years NHS experience Skilled in managing complex ER cases, long-term sickness, redundancy, and dismissals Desirable Experience: Knowledge of employment law and Agenda for Change CIPD qualified Experience managing a team Familiarity with ESR, e-DBS, and Smart Cards Understanding NHS financial challenges Person Specification: Strong communicator (verbal, written, and face-to-face) High attention to detail and confidentiality Self-motivated team player with great interpersonal skills Able to act independently and support sensitive cases professionally
