Job Description:
Role Summary
Are you eager to take on operational and leadership responsibilities for an MSK team while maintaining and developing your MSK skills? Join our innovative and supportive team at the Royal Devon, where your growth is our priority.
We’re looking for a passionate MSK Team Lead MSK Physiotherapist to join the MSK service and lead the Bideford and Holsworthy Team. This position is ideal for someone who has strong MSK skills and is ready to step into a Band 7 role or for an experienced Band 7 clinician looking for a new challenge.
About the Role
This post is based at Bideford Hospital, a busy Community Hospital located in this lovely coastal town. The team also provides an MSK service at Holsworthy Hospital near north Dartmoor. The team consists of senior support workers, band 5 and 6 posts, as well as band 7 advanced practice clinicians. Both sites have excellent facilities.
You will be responsible for the leadership and delivery of the elective MSK Physiotherapy service across the cluster through operational management of the team of clinicians. You will have your own caseload and be part of the senior clinician team, engaging in quality improvement projects. Patients are referred from GPs, FCPs, Consultants, and other healthcare professionals. We run various exercise classes across the community sites and have a hydrotherapy pool at North Devon District Hospital in Barnstable.
You will be supported by both a professional and operational lead to help you reach your potential. There is strong collaborative working with local team lead colleagues and across the wider MSK service covering Exeter, North, Mid, and East Devon.
Bideford and Holsworthy is a friendly and dynamic team, striving to provide excellent care for our patients and a great place to work for our team members. We provide opportunities to be part of special interest groups, allowing you to collaborate with other team members on project work, training sessions, and the potential to be involved in research trials.
Training and Development Opportunities
Training and development opportunities are abundant, whether you are interested in clinical or leadership development courses. We actively encourage CPD, and you will have the chance to spend time with our specialists as part of your CPD.
Innovation
Innovation is central to Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) at the Royal Devon. We embrace new projects such as running BOOST classes for stenotic back pain patients and participating in research trials like the AFTER trial for ankle fractures, GRASP for rotator cuff pain, and ProFHER for proximal humeral fractures.
Support and Wellbeing
All new team members receive a tailored induction and join our award-winning Buddy scheme. You’ll have a dedicated ‘buddy’ to help you acclimate in the first few days and weeks. Your team will offer guidance and support, with your manager providing regular reviews and appraisals. Additionally, there are Trust-wide events and activities focused on wellbeing.
Working Hours
A healthy work-life balance is essential, and Devon is a great place to enjoy it. The Telegraph continues to rank Devon as the best county in England for its natural wonders, history, culture, and luxuries.
Working Pattern: This role is full-time. We have a flexible working policy that we are happy to discuss to establish suitable options for you and the department.
Interview Date: April 5.
For further information please contact: Emma Trimble, Senior Operations Manager MSK/ESP/FCP.
Inclusivity Statement: As an inclusive employer, the Royal Devon values diversity and is committed to creating a culture of inclusivity where everyone can be themselves and reach their full potential. We believe in fostering a sense of belonging and actively encourage applications from individuals of all backgrounds, cultures, and abilities.
Preference will be given to staff with ‘Priority’ and 'At Risk' status, including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon.
