Interim Finance Manager
ASA are seeking an experienced and qualified Finance Manager to provide strategic financial support to one of their largescale public sector clients. This is a key interim role, working closely with Directors and senior management teams to drive financial performance, deliver robust financial planning, and provide strategic insights across business-as-usual and project activities.
This role offers a fantastic opportunity to make a difference within a high-profile public sector organisation, supporting operational delivery and contributing to the organisations wider corporate objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the directorate’s financial management processes, ensuring the accurate and timely reporting of monthly forecasts, variances, and annual financial plans.
* Provide expert financial guidance and challenge to Directors and budget holders, ensuring informed decision-making and strong financial governance.
* Manage and oversee month-end and year-end accounting processes including accruals, prepayments, reconciliations and reporting for inclusion in the Annual Report & Accounts.
* Support annual financial planning exercises, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy and delivery plans.
* Contribute to the development of business cases and monitor financial aspects of projects and programmes.
* Develop financial capability across the organisation, training non-finance staff on finance processes, policies and procedures.
* Provide leadership and oversight to junior finance staff, supporting their development.
Skills & Experience Required:
* CCAB-qualified accountant (or finalist).
* Proven experience in financial control, budget setting, forecasting, and variance analysis within a complex organisation.
* Experience managing accounts payable/receivable processes, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations.
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to interrogate and interpret complex financial data.
* Excellent communication skills with experience producing reports and briefings for senior stakeholders.

* Location: Edinburgh (Hybrid working supported)
* Security Clearance: BPSS and Enhanced Disclosure required prior to start
* IR35 Status: Inside IR35
