Job Title: Mechanical Fitter
Location: Cramlington
Reports to: Engineering Manager
Temp role: 3 month ongoing contract, £18.00 per hour PAYE, immediate start
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assembly & Installation:
o Assemble and install mechanical components and systems according to technical drawings and specifications.
o Ensure equipment is set up and aligned correctly.
o Conduct visual inspections to ensure installation complies with quality standards.
2. Maintenance & Repairs:
o Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on machinery and mechanical systems.
o Troubleshoot and diagnose faults in mechanical equipment, using tools and diagnostic equipment.
o Replace or repair defective parts and components.
3. Testing & Commissioning:
o Conduct functional tests to ensure that equipment is running smoothly and meets performance standards.
o Perform adjustments or fine-tuning of machinery and systems where required.
4. Safety & Compliance:
o Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
o Report any hazards or safety concerns immediately to the supervisor.
o Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs.
5. Tool & Equipment Use:
o Use hand and power tools, welding equipment, and other machinery as required to complete tasks.
o Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
Key Requirements:
1. Qualifications & Experience:
o Relevant qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering, City & Guilds, or equivalent or time served).
o Proven experience working as a Mechanical Fitter or in a similar mechanical engineering role.
o Familiarity with working on large machinery and complex mechanical systems.
2. Technical Skills:
o Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
o Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and mechanical testing equipment.
o Experience in fault-finding and problem-solving in mechanical systems.
3. Desirable:
o Welding or fabrication experience.
o Experience in a particular industry (manufacturing, construction, marine power generation).
