Job Introduction
BBC Cymru Wales Sport has a track record in developing and delivering distinctive and original daily output across digital platforms - written, video and audio - and including brands such as BBC Sport Online, Scrum V, Y Clwb Rygbi, Feast of Football, Y Coridor Ansicrwydd, Radio Wales Sport and Chwaraeon Radio Cymru.
We are now seeking to appoint 1 x Senior Journalist in support of the department's ambitions to grow its digital audience.
We are looking for a confident and creative Sport Journalist with proven editorial judgement and a track record creating content on digital platforms.
Main Responsibilities
* Reporting to the Assistant Editor (Journalism & Digital Growth), you will have a passion for using data to drive key editorial decision making and story commissioning.
* You will develop expertise in SEO and audience analytics to support the department's journalism and maximise audience across digital platforms, with a particular focus on written content & journalism.
* You will combine a strategic approach to planned Sport content, as well as being reactive to live audience trends on a daily basis.
* You will help drive digital growth by working closely with other audience teams across the BBC & sharing best practice.
Are you the right candidate?
The successful candidate must have:
* First class Sport News judgement, including editorial compliance of multi-platform content based on substantial sport journalism experience
* Strong experience of written Sport content and the various factors impacting audience performance
* Great team worker, sharing best practices between teams, with excellent communication skills
* Direct experience of issues affecting diverse communities in Sport
* An in depth knowledge and passion for Wales and Welsh Sport which can be applied with a strategic approach
