To work alongside all staff in all areas of the patient pathway, i.e. outpatient clinic activity, nurse led clinics, surgical day-care and in-patients when needed whilst demonstrating infection control principles. To have attained the competencies such as patient observations (Blood Pressure electronic and manual measurement), TPR,RBS,HbA1c, BMI calculation, Diagnostic Machines (OCT, Fields Machine, Clarus and etc.) ECG, Intra Ocular Measurement using contact and non-contact tonometry such as Icare and ORA, Vision assessment using LogMar, Thompson Chart and Snellen and other test charts in accordance with Trust and National guidelines. Will be responsible for the application of knowledge across the range of ophthalmic work procedures and practices, underpinned by theoretical knowledge and practical experience. Responsible for maintaining the equipment, ensuring it is safe to use and assist with data archiving. To undertake medicine assessment and to follow the Trusts Patient Group Directive for the administration of eye drops for patients undergoing intravitreal injections. Competent in the use of MEH PAS, Open Eyes, EProcurement, and to be able to contact the relevant department whenever any IT issues arises. To provide reassurance, advice and comfort to all patients, many who might have complex emotional, psychological problems and understand how to escalate if necessary. Maintain departmental stock levels by overseeing the ordering of stores.
