As a Personal Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing support and assistance to individuals in need of personal care. Your primary focus will be on enhancing the quality of life for clients by assisting them with daily activities, ensuring their comfort, and promoting their independence. This position requires a compassionate individual who can communicate effectively and is dedicated to delivering high-quality home care services.
Duties
- Assist clients with personal hygiene tasks such as bathing, grooming, and dressing.
- Help with mobility and transfers to ensure client safety and comfort.
- Prepare meals and assist with feeding when necessary, adhering to specific dietary requirements outlined in care plans.
- Provide companionship and engage clients in meaningful conversations to promote emotional well-being.
- Maintain accurate records of client care and report any changes in health or behaviour to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
- Assist in the implementation of care plans developed by healthcare professionals, ensuring that all aspects of care are followed diligently.
Skills
- Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with clients and their families.
- Previous experience in home care or a care home setting is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided.
- Familiarity with creating or following care plans to ensure personalised support is delivered consistently.
- Competence in using IT tools for documentation and communication within the caregiving environment.
- A compassionate nature with a genuine desire to help others, demonstrating patience and empathy at all times.
