We provide specialist services in cardiothoracic surgery, cardiology, respiratory medicine including adult cystic fibrosis and diagnostic imaging, both in the hospital and out in the community.
We serve a catchment area of 2.8 million people, spanning Merseyside, Cheshire, North Wales and the Isle of Man, and increasingly we receive referrals from outside these areas for highly specialised services such as aortics.
Heart and lung disease continue to be amongst the biggest killers in the UK and the communities we serve are marked by increased prevalence of cardiovascular disease, higher levels of heart failure, hypertension, coronary artery disease and an ageing population.

Job overview
Applications are invited from radiologists who have experience in cardiovascular and cardiothoracic imaging. The successful applicant will have the opportunity for in-house training and work along with our team of ten experienced cardiothoracic radiologists and six cardiologists with imaging interest.
Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital (LHCH) is a successful NHS Foundation Trust, dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of cardiothoracic diseases, with an outstanding group of cardiac and thoracic surgeons, radiologists and chest physicians and cardiologists. Our Trust has its own research department which provides excellent support for those colleagues interested in research and innovation.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be based at the LHCH. The total sessional commitment would be 10 – 12 PAs for a full-time appointee, but applicants who wish to work less than full time are also welcomed to apply.
Applicants must hold a certificate of completion of specialist training in radiology (CCST), or equivalent international specialist radiology training certificate and GMC registration.

Qualification
* Full GMC Registration (or Eligible for Registration within 3 months).
* FRCR or Equivalent
Clinical Experience
* Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT Radiology training
* Training in chest imaging and Lung biopsies
* On-Call duties (Often include cardiovascular imaging; aorta, cardiac and coronary imaging)
* Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of problems in cardiothoracic imaging
* Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients in the Radiology Department.
* An area sub-specialisation and willingness to innovate and develop services.
Management and Administrative Experience
* Ability to organise and manage radiology speciality lists
Teaching Experience
* Experience of teaching at Postgraduate level.
* Ability to teach image interpretation and reporting skills
* Experience of supervising SPR’s
Audit and Research Experience
* Experience of audit management or equivalent.
* Ability to apply research outcomes in radiology practice
* Peer reviewed publications.
