This role demands strategic acumen, deep technical expertise, and a strong ability to influence at the highest levels. You will be instrumental in embedding a robust risk culture across the organisation, ensuring risk-informed decision-making is a fundamental part of our business strategy. Your leadership will directly impact our ability to meet regulatory requirements and deliver long-term resilience.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Enterprise Risk Leadership – Own and continuously develop the enterprise risk management framework, risk policy, and risk appetite, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities. Provide authoritative updates to the Southern Water Executive, Board Committees, and within public-facing reports.
2. Governance & Control Oversight – Lead enterprise-wide risk and control assessments, supporting compliance with the UK Corporate Governance Code and strengthening our internal control environment.
3. Business Continuity & Resilience – Oversee and refine business continuity management processes, ensuring rigorous scenario testing and assurance measures to enhance corporate resilience.
4. Senior-Level Engagement – Act as a trusted advisor and thought leader on risk and resilience matters, deputising for the Head of Risk, Audit, and Assurance at the Executive and Board level. Prepare and deliver high-impact reports, briefings, and strategic recommendations.
What We’re Looking For:
1. Strong communication and engagement skills, with the ability to translate complex technical risk concepts into clear, relevant insights for non-technical audiences.
2. The gravitas and credibility to engage and influence senior leadership, providing confidential and sensitive support in high-pressure environments.
3. A calm and measured approach, demonstrating resilience and strategic thinking in addressing risk management challenges.
4. A proven track record of leading and embedding enterprise risk and resilience strategies within complex organisations.
5. Extensive expertise in governance, business processes, information controls, and assurance frameworks.
