This is a new clinical post, designed to support the continuing development of our clinical service. This is an exciting opportunity to join our very well-regarded CHIPS (Children's Holistic integrated Palliative care Service) team and further development of paediatric palliative care across the North East and North Cumbria. It has been created to strengthen both the CHIPS specialist palliative care provision across the North East and North Cumbria and enhance the specialist input with St Oswald's hospice. We are seeking people who have undertaken GRID or equivalence training in Paediatric Palliative Care. CHIPS are ambitious and innovative and are looking for a consultant colleague who can draw from experiences within NHS and hospice settings, and work with national organisations such as the Association of Paediatric Palliative Medicine to improve the care available to children across the North East and North Cumbria and contribute to raising both the local and national profile of the service. Within the 10 PA job plan, appropriate time will be built in for SPA activity. Planned activities will include home, hospital and hospice visits, complex case meetings, contributing to specialist team MDTs and developing links within the region; with community teams and inpatient specialist teams. In addition to this, it is expected that at least one consultant each day will be available for unplanned activities such as clinical consults and urgent requests. On-call Duties: 0.25 PA is included to cover weekend telephone advice 9am-5pm that occurs 1 in 5 weekends with CHIPS. An availability supplement will be allocated to contribute to St Oswalds on call arrangements (up to 1 in 4 non-resident on call which can be combined with weekends providing telephone CHIPS advice).
