We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Shop Manager to join our team at Shooting Star Children’s Hospices. Shooting Star Children’s Hospices provides specialist care and support to families who have a baby, child or young person with a life-limiting condition, or who have been bereaved. Rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission, we support families across Surrey, north-west London and south-west London from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement with a range of nursing, practical, emotional and medical care. About the role
Your key purpose will be, in the absence of and alongside the Shop Manager, to manage a team of volunteers to maximise sales, deliver excellent customer service and ensure that the shop premises and assets are maintained to a high standard, according to legal requirements and Shooting Star Children’s Hospices (SSCH) policies and procedures.
About you
This role requires experience of assisting in managing a shop including knowledge of retail and health and safety legislation and administrative/cash handling experience. You will also have an ability to deal with customers and maintain a high level of customer service, have good verbal and written communication skills, as well as being comfortable using IT and EPOS reporting. You will have an ability to motivate yourself and others, have excellent organisational skills and be comfortable working under pressure and dealing with changing priorities.
The successful candidate will enjoy a flexible schedule, working their contracted hours across the 7-day week as part of a supportive job share arrangement.
