About the Role: I am seeking an experienced General Foreman to oversee and coordinate all on-site construction activities for high street public works. Reporting to the Site Agent/Project Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the successful delivery of civil engineering projects, maintaining programme and budget while upholding the highest health, safety, and quality standards. Key Responsibilities: Supervise all on-site construction activities, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Maintain project schedules, budgets, and ensure high-quality standards are met. Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and direct labour to optimise productivity. Deliver daily briefings, toolbox talks, and ensure RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements) are followed. Monitor and document site progress, ensuring work is completed to specification. Carry out and record site inspections, ensuring quality control is maintained. Act as the Temporary Works Supervisor, ensuring safe working practices. Liaise with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery. Experience & Qualifications: Proven experience in delivering civil engineering projects related to High Street Public Works, including Highways, Drainage, and Structures. Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant industry software. CSCS Gold card (minimum standard), SMSTS, Street Works, Confined Space and First Aid. Full UK Driving Licence (Clean or minimal points) Health, Safety & Environmental Responsibilities: -Lead by example in promoting safe working practices on-site and ensure compliance with all relevant HSE legislation and company standards -Independently carry out site inductions, toolbox talks, and safety briefings -Ensure all required permits (PUWER, LOLER, Permit to Dig) are issued and briefed appropriately. -Maintain accurate and up-to-date health and safety records and documentation. Technical & Programme Responsibilities: Extensive knowledge of drainage, deep excavations, road construction, structures, and temporary works. Identify and implement best practices, efficiencies, and innovative solutions. Plan and allocate daily site activities, ensuring efficient resource management. Maintain a daily site diary, tracking progress and reporting any issues promptly. Assist in cost tracking, subcontractor payments, and monthly CVRs with the Quantity Surveyor. Maintain clear and accurate project documentation, including inspections, QA records, and site progress reports. Quality & Stakeholder Management: Liaise effectively with clients, suppliers, and third parties, always ensuring a professional approach. Uphold sector-specific quality assurance standards, ensuring compliance and best practices. Identify and rectify any defective works in a timely manner. Maintain strong relationships with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors to ensure smooth project delivery.
