Planned Interview Date: 09/12/2024
We have an opportunity for a flexible, enthusiastic, motivated Radiographer to join our friendly, dedicated MRI team as lead Radiographer for paediatric services.
The children's MRI service is based at Leeds General Infirmary (LGI). LGI is a major trauma center and the home of the Leeds Children's Hospital. Please note that although the trust has plans to build a dedicated Children's hospital with its own imaging facilities, the current LGI MRI department scans both adults and children, so some adult imaging will be required of the post-holder as part of the on-call service.
The role of Lead Radiographer for paediatric MRI services is diverse. The successful candidate will work closely with radiologists and other senior Radiographers to develop the children's MRI service. There will be involvement in the development of the future Leeds Children's Hospital project (Building the Leeds Way) from a Radiology perspective, as well as supporting management in day-to-day service delivery. The successful candidate must have experience of MRI and children's imaging.
Leeds MRI has undertaken a major service expansion, increasing the number of MRI scanners across the city. We therefore have a fantastic opportunity for a flexible, enthusiastic, motivated Radiographer with a specialist interest in paediatric imaging to join our friendly, dedicated team in one of the largest MRI departments in the UK.
Main duties of the job:
The successful candidate will support the MRI service in providing good quality diagnostic images for our patients whilst also providing exemplary patient care. The key duties will be:
1. Perform diagnostic MRI scans.
2. Maintain high quality patient records.

4. Review patient MRI safety issues and make decisions on MRI safety including scanning of active implants.
5. Cannulate patients.
6. Administer a range of drugs.
7. Perform scans for research purposes.
8. Once competent, train other staff and students.
9. Support the weekend out-patient list service.
10. Support the overnight, weekend and bank holiday on-call rota.
Working in our department is incredibly rewarding, and the team is friendly and supportive. Candidates should be aware that they will be working with patients who have sometimes emotionally distressing illnesses and conditions, including children and young people. The Trust has a range of support for team members to ensure good emotional and psychological health. The job role includes manual handling of patients as we have a busy in-patient department that forms part of the rotation.
