St Margaret’s Hospice Care has a fantastic opportunity for two Specialist Occupational Therapists to join our multi-disciplinary palliative care team. You will join us on a permanent basis and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £40,888 pro rata. We have a 22.5 hour role available in Yeovil and 22.5 - 30 hours per week available in Taunton. Working cross-county, you will deliver responsive, high quality care to our patients with life limiting conditions. The majority of our patients are cared for at home and you will play a vital role in ensuring they have all the safe systems of equipment and adaptations to facilitate this, using person centred assessment of needs and risks, as well as Moving and Handling support plans. Please note: Access to/use of a vehicle is an essential requirement for this role. What can you expect to be doing? We support palliative patients at all stages of their journey, from diagnosis to end stage disease, offering preventative, restorative, supportive and palliative rehabilitation and intervention – and you will be a key part of that. Paying attention to detail, you will tailor plans and advocate for what is important to them, helping them to achieve their goals and alleviate distress. Your day-to-day role will involve: Supporting patients in a variety of settings; including in-patient, day centre and in their own homes. Using a holistic approach, you will undertake assessments as well as plan and deliver high quality patient care. Helping to evaluate and develop our services using your OT expertise. Working collaboratively with all members of the St Margaret’s hospice team and external agencies Supporting the safe discharge of patients from the in-patient unit. Supporting and overseeing the OT related work of our multi-disciplinary assistants (generic support workers). You will: Be a qualified Occupational Therapist and be registered with HCPC Have experience of working in a health and/or social care setting, preferably palliative care Be knowledgeable about issues relating to end of life, loss and bereavement Be continuously striving for high quality care for those we support Have excellent communication skills Have self-awareness and resilience skills This role will involve traveling across the county, including with equipment.
