Pay and Benefits
* Starting salary £45,521 pa.
* + £5,000 pa SAP allowance – paid on completion of Senior Authorised Person qualification.
* 37 Hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8am – 4pm (Days only).
* Paid overtime, standby allowance + call out fee.

Role overview
We’re looking for individuals to start a hands-on career in the energy sector. You’ll join our Mendip and Westward team, where you will spend 18–24 months in training, gaining experience on-site and in the classroom (including short stays away from home), building the skills and safety authorisations needed to advance.
Once qualified, you will move into the Senior Authorised Person (SAP) role with an increased salary to £54,859 and a £5,000 SAP allowance. You will lead teams of fitters and contractors on high voltage substation projects across Somerset, Devon, and Dorset, managing safety-critical work and helping maintain the UK’s electricity network. You will also participate in a standby rota for emergency call-outs, earning additional payments for your expertise and availability.

Qualifications, skills, and experience
* Minimum NVQ Level 3/ONC in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
* Practical engineering skills – installations, repair, and maintenance.
* Ability to use test equipment, interpret maintenance results, read electrical schematic drawings, and produce risk assessments and method statements.
* Willingness to attend training courses at our Eakring site in Nottinghamshire and other locations, which may require short stays away from home.
* Availability for standby rota, providing reactive call-outs for emergencies; residence within 45 mins of our Taunton site.
* Full UK driving license.
Desirable
* Substation experience, supervisory experience, NEBOSH certification.
