For the past 75 years, St Margaret of Scotland Hospice has been considered a leading provider of specialist palliative care. As we embark on the next chapter in the history of the Hospice, we want to be recognized as a centre of excellence for research and training in palliative and complex clinical care. We are building strategic partnerships with academia and the NHS to promote research and develop innovative ways of working that will benefit our patients and enable the Hospice sector to deliver its full potential as a cornerstone of healthcare provision across the UK. If you are a dedicated Consultant in palliative medicine who shares our ambition, join us and make a valuable contribution to ensuring the ongoing development and continuing provision of exceptional end-of-life care that the population deserves.
The Consultant will be part of the medical team, all of whom have a role in the clinical care of patients and families, the Hospice and Hospital education programme, governance requirements of the hospice service, and development of the hospice and centre of excellence. The Hospice is currently trialling a new initiative whereby the traditional role and responsibilities of the Medical Director are shared among the Consultant body. The Hospice believes this best supports the involvement and development of the strategic and management contribution of our senior medical staff.
