North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a dynamic and motivated Gastroenterology Specialty Doctor to join our team of consultant gastroenterologists to provide an integrated digestive diseases service across north Cumbria. The North Cumbria GI Service is a cohesive and integrated department, combining the services of gastroenterology and endoscopy, upper gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, colorectal, & emergency GI surgery.
While appointees will be appointed to a base unit, all members of the team will be expected to contribute to all aspects of the general gastroenterology service across the Trust.
Main duties of the job
The department has dedicated GI wards within the Cumberland Infirmary at Carlisle for the treatment of inpatients. There is a dedicated 3-room endoscopy unit at The Cumberland Infirmary and the new endoscopy unit at West Cumberland Hospital, Whitehaven has 2 dedicated rooms.
The Trust have also received national funding for a new, state-of the art Endoscopy Unit at Cumberland Infirmary which is due to open Early 2025.

Qualifications
Essential
* MBBS or equivalent
* Full registration with GMC
* Full MRCP - or to be on trajectory to gain this within 6 months
Experience
Essential
* At least 6 months experience in General Medicine at middle grade level, including experience of middle grade general medical on calls.
* Gastroenterology experience
* Endoscopy experience
* Evidence of annual participation in audit / quality improvement
* Experience of teaching medical students, nursing staff and other professional groups
Desirable
* Experience of participating in a GI Bleed rota
* Experience of clinical research culminating in presentation and publication of original studies, review articles, etc, relevant to speciality
* Experience of leading projects / service improvement
