Job Description
We are seeking to appoint an inspiring, motivated and vibrant teacher of science to join our well-established department. The successful applicant will be required to teach Science at KS3 and KS4, with the opportunity to teach at A-Level for a suitably qualified candidate. You will join an outstanding Science team, who pride themselves on their innovative approach to helping every student to achieve their full potential. We welcome applications from ECTs as well as those with more experience in the classroom.
Thurston Community College is a large popular mixed comprehensive school. It comprises two distinct and specialist sites. Our Thurston Campus, for students from Year 7 to Year 11, is situated four miles east of Bury St Edmunds. Thurston Sixth is located in the nearby village of Beyton, offering a bespoke centre of excellence for students in Year 12 and Year 13.

Science is a thriving department with a proven track record of outstanding student achievement at both GCSE and Advanced Level. All Science lessons are taught in specialist rooms at both the Thurston and the Beyton Campuses. Science is a popular subject in the Sixth Form with a large uptake at Advanced Level where courses in A-Level Biology, Chemistry and Physics are currently offered.
