UWCSEA Dover is seeking a Teacher of Primary School Learning Support from August 2025 to join our dynamic and flexible support team. The Learning Support position focuses on fostering an inclusive environment that prioritises a student-centred and strength-based approach. UWCSEA are in the initial phases of implementing a tiered support model, and this role involves collaborating with the team around the child to ensure all students can thrive within the UWCSEA learning programme. The successful candidate will be required to have an understanding of tiered support structures and systems within large and dynamic educational organisations.
The candidate should have recent Primary School teaching experience and hold relevant qualifications that support students with learning differences. Enthusiasm for and experience in teaching students between age range 4 to 11 is essential.
Main Responsibilities
* To support students with individual learning needs to achieve their full potential and access the five elements of UWCSEA’s Learning Programme.
* Working with students in classrooms and small groups, in the areas of Academic, Social, Emotional and Behavioural Support.
* Collaborate and support class teachers to provide differentiated programmes, write individualised plans and conduct parent meetings for individual students.
* Support leadership, teachers and other school staff in identifying root causes of student learning challenges and ways to meet students' needs.
* Provide coaching to staff to support the implementation of in-class support plans including workshops.
* Work closely with and support families in establishing positive home-school communication.
* Work collaboratively in a specific grade level, the learning support team and the wider primary school team.
* To provide a happy, stimulating, safe learning environment for all children and to expect standards of individual excellence from all.
* Confidently use and gather different types of data from multiple sources to monitor student progress and well-being around specific educational goals.
* A recognised teaching qualification and a learning support teaching qualification are required.
* The ideal candidate has a proven record, as a successful classroom teacher at the Primary School level.
* Vision, energy, and enthusiasm for the role, with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
* A strengths-based, inclusive philosophy with experience supporting students with academic, attentional, social communication, and other associated difficulties.
* Proven track record of delivering personalised curricula for pupils with additional needs.
* Flexible, proactive, and hands-on approach.
* Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and the ongoing development of pedagogy to meet diverse learner needs.
* The following would be an advantage:
o Expertise in either academic or social-emotional and behavioural support.
o Knowledge of international curricula, including delivery and assessment.
o Experience teaching English Language Learners.
* Enthusiastic participation in Professional Learning and evidence of recent professional development.
* Willingness to engage in the five key elements of a UWCSEA education: Academics, Activities, Outdoor Education, Personal and Social Education, and Service.
* The College expects a significant weekly contribution to Activities and/or Service.
* Comfort with working in a school which permits a high degree of autonomy.
* The College expects that teachers will participate enthusiastically in the curricular Outdoor Education experiences that are relevant to their students and will also occasionally volunteer for holiday Outdoor Education trips.
